October Update

Flooding.  Wow, it’s been extremely rainy the past few weeks.  Almost every day in the afternoon it starts raining and doesn’t stop until well into the night.  The streets in front of our house and around our neighborhood have been flooded the past several days.  Luckily, we have a truck to get around in when needed.   Normally Ashley drives the truck to school each day and I drive the moto.  I got caught out in the rain a few times, but I have a heavy rain parka for that.

The Newton family came and visited us last month.  They live in Singapore now, but we knew them back in Texas at 121.  It was great to catch up with them and show them around Phnom Penh for a few days.  We are turning it into a “home and home” as we plan on visiting them next month in Singapore.

This past weekend was the second annual wakeboard contest at Kam-Air.  Although it was smaller than last year, it was still a blast for all that attended.  We had four divisions including, novice, intermediate, advanced and wakeskate.  Mike’s Burger House brought the food, “DJC” spun tracks and Alf, Kiel, Krista and I judged the competition.  It was a fun day.

This week will be the last week of wakeboarding at our current location.  Our landlord at the lake has decided not to extend our contract and therefore we have to leave by December 1st.  We have been scouting other locations and water testing all over the city.  We have found a potential location with lots of room for growth.  Pray about this spot when you think about it.  It has some issues that Alf and I are working through, but it could be a fantastic long term spot for us.

Next week a team from 121 will be coming to Cambodia.  They will be spending time with the 121 families on the ground and then heading up to work with IJM.  Pray for their safe travels and a good trip.
